A leadership roadmap shaped by the people who deliver care.
Hinds LifeCare (aka Hinds Hospice), is a nonprofit hospice care and services company in California.
At a Glance:Â Culture Audit, Culture Lab, & Lead Lab | Delivered to the Executive Team, People Leaders & Team Members Across Hinds Facilities | 2023-2025
The Challenge
The Hinds LifeCare’s executive team wanted a clearer picture of its culture and a long-term approach to onboarding and developing people managers. Â
The nonprofit hospice organization partnered with CLC to listen across the organization and translate what it learned into a Leadership Academy roadmap.Â
Our Approach
CLC completed a deep-dive culture audit, visiting Hinds LifeCare’s facilities and interviewing executives, leaders, and team members over three days.Â
We synthesized the data into themes and sliced the insights across level and location. We then layered in recent Press Ganey scores to broaden our insights, including leadership gaps and cultural strengths.
Partnership Overtime
The findings informed a multi-faceted approach to developing their culture and leaders. We designed and delivered:
- A Culture Lab retreat for the executive team,Â
- A Lead Lab retreat for people leadersÂ
- A three-year Leadership Academy roadmap.Â
Hinds LifeCare began delivering internal training drawn from the roadmap in 2025.Â
The Compassionate Leadership approach helps our team better understand how each of us shapes the organization, creating a shared perspective that fosters meaningful culture change. By emphasizing collaboration, accountability, and thoughtful leadership, it encourages leaders at every level to recognize their influence, make more intentional decisions, and contribute to a workplace where people feel valued, supported, and empowered to do their best work. — Lilika Stratigos, CEO
From a senior retreat to an enduring leadership experience.
Rooted in the motto: “Be Bold. Do Good. Help Others”

The Challenge
The Fritz Knoebel School of Hospitality Management at Denver University wanted students to build stronger relationships with one another and approach the transition from college to work with greater clarity and purpose. The experience needed to reflect the school’s commitment to “Be Bold. Do Good. Help Others.”Â
Our Approach
We began our partnership with the school in 2019, tasked with the awesome opportunity to create an annual, interactive event that would be foundational to the senior year curriculum. We took the school’s objectives and customized our Purpose Lab curriculum to be age-appropriate, timely, and forward-looking. The students explored theirÂ

- Developed a vision pitch for life and career
We honed this program over six years of delivering Purpose Lab to DU students, improving content, cadence, location, and interactive elements each year. With pointed client feedback, we iterated on the retreat over time.
Partnership Overtime
The retreat became a graduation requirement and an established part of the school’s experience. It more recently moved to the junior year, to equip rising seniors to approach their summer internships with greater self-awareness and authenticity.
With the budget and location changing, the DU staff chose to continue with Purpose Lab, but run it themselves. We trained the DU staff with a program called Train Lab, rooting them in the foundations of compassionate training.Â
Since June 2025, the DU staff has been running the retreat, also known as the Fritz Leadership Symposium. With our support of ongoing data analyses, online Purpose Lab self-guided materials, and debrief sessions, the DU staff receives ongoing support and partnership from us.
We just completed our seventh year working with Compassionate Leaders Circle. It's a partnership I cherish, and it has helped our graduating seniors develop deeper connections with one another, identify what is important to them, and articulate a clear career vision for their futures. It has become essential to our culture and adds tremendous value to our students and alumni. — Dr. David Corsun, Director & Associate Professor, College of Business, University of Denver
Helping build purpose, connection, and coaching capacity.
Support our Scholars is a Central Florida nonprofit supporting first-generation, high-achieving women through college.
At a Glance:Â Customized Purpose Lab Retreat (36 scholars); Train Lab, Purpose Coache Training (training 8 individuals to build local capacity), & Train Lab (6 internal leaders) | Created a Leadership Academy | 2025-2028
The Challenge
SOS already surrounded its high-achieving scholars with financial assistance, mentorship, and a community of women invested in their success. Its stakeholders wanted to deepen the connections among scholars and give them dedicated time to explore who they are, what matters to them, and where they hope to go.
Together, SOS and CLC set objectives that went beyond a retreat. Scholars would understand that they not need to wait for an official title to know that they are leaders already; they would write meaningful personal and professional purpose statements, describe visions for 2036, and make a commitment plan for the next semester.
They would receive a 1:1 coaching session during the semester, to maintain momentum and support with commitments, and have an online group reunion to stay connected to their peers.
Our Approach
After multiple meetings with SOS stakeholders in 2025, CLC adapted Purpose Lab to the scholars’ experiences and the organization’s goals. We delivered an in-person retreat for 12 current freshmen in January 2026, then further tailored the experience for a second retreat in August with 24 incoming freshmen, additional sophomores, and alumni.
The August workbook guided scholars through compassionate leadership, relationships, self-reflection, values, purpose, and vision. Its culminating vision pitches gave participants an opportunity to articulate the futures they imagined and connect those ambitions to near-term commitments.
CLC also recruited and trained a local group of eight Certified Purpose Coaches. Their training covered the foundations of compassionate facilitation through Train Lab and the elements of Purpose Lab they would use to coach scholars one-to-one and deliver future retreats.
Partnership Overtime
SOS has contracted to run its own Purpose Labs using CLC content through 2028. With locally based trained coaches, it now has a way to offer individual coaching and continue the retreat experience with a more sustainable, cost-conscious delivery model. We continue to provide support and data analysis.Â
I believe some of the most meaningful philanthropy happens when you bring together organizations whose strengths complement one another around a shared purpose. That’s what I hoped to accomplish by introducing Compassionate Leaders Circle to Support Our Scholars and helping bring the Purpose Lab experience to life through the Carmany Foundation. My hope was to give these scholars the opportunity to better understand who they are, discover their purpose, and begin college with greater confidence and intention.
What impressed me most was CLC’s professionalism and commitment to creating something that will last. From the very beginning, they took the time to understand the mission of Support Our Scholars and thoughtfully designed a Purpose Lab experience tailored specifically to the needs of its scholars. Throughout the process, they were organized, responsive, and a pleasure to work with. They communicated clearly, anticipated needs, and consistently delivered a high-quality experience. They didn’t simply facilitate a retreat.
They also developed a facilitator training program that will equip Support Our Scholars to sustain and grow this work for years to come. Their work is intentional, collaborative, and deeply aligned with creating lasting impact. I am grateful for this partnership and look forward to seeing its influence in the lives of these scholars for years to come.

Embedding compassionate leadership across Mohawk Global.
Mohawk Global is a privately held $500M+ global logistics company.
At a Glance:Â Lead Lab (about 70 people leaders); Coach Lab (about 70 executives and leaders), & Train Lab (6 internal leaders) | Created a Leadership Academy | 2021-2025
The Challenge
Mohawk Global’s founder and CEO, Gar Grannell, and Chief People Officer, Allicia Kirkby, wanted leaders throughout the company to practice compassionate leadership and bring Mohawk’s values—Care, Enrich, and Deliver—into its training programs. They sought a partner who could help leaders translate those values into actionable behaviors and practices in how they led and developed their teams.
Our Approach
CLC began with a customized Lead Lab for approximately 70 people leaders. Participants developed compassion projects intended to put their learning into action across the company. The partnership expanded to executive coaching and a Coach Lab focused on how leaders communicate with and develop their team members.
As the work grew, CLC supported Mohawk in building its own leadership development capacity. A Train Lab prepared six leaders to deliver CLC programs internally, and subsequent work included executive retreats, coaching, and Leadership Academy development.
Partnership Overtime
Mohawk expanded the work beyond its initial leadership retreats and invested in people who could continue the development internally. In the CEO’s account, leaders improved how they engaged with their teams to build trust and enrich employees’ lives. Mohawk was also named to a 2023 Fortune and Great Place To Work list of medium-sized workplaces.Â
We have been working closely with Compassionate Leaders Circle for three years and have seen a dramatic improvement in how our leaders engage with their people to build trust and enrich their lives. — Gar Grannell, Founder and CEO
